Obituary of Aruna K. Shah

Aruna was born on September 18, 1944, in Moradabad, India.  She was the daughter of Shri Jaiswarup and Smt. Premkumari Jain.  Aruna was the youngest of four sisters and she has a younger brother.  Aruna received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Institute of Science, University of Bombay, India.  It was at the Institute of Science where she first met Kishore Shah, with whom she was married on July 10, 1967.  Six months later she came to Lowell, MA to join her husband who was a student at the time.  They have two children-daughter Priti and son Vinay.   Aruna was a great wife and a wonderful loving mother.  She lived her whole life loving, caring, and supporting her family.  She was very fond of her two grandsons.  They were always in the center of her heart.  She worked in banks at various times in her life.  She retired from Affinity Federal Credit Union in 2009.  Cooking and gardening were her favorite activities.  When Vinay gifted her an iPad, she used it to the fullest exploring the internet for new ideas and solutions in cooking and gardening.   She lived a very active lifestyle.   She loved walking and hiking. 

Her life took a very sad turn in 2019 when she became sick with severe pneumonia.  It left scarring in her lungs.   Since that time initially, she recovered very considerably due to her tenacity and fighting spirit.  However, over the last several months her condition started declining.   But she was a fighter.  She did not let her illness stop what she wanted to do.  She wanted to live her life on her own terms and she did.  Eventually, she succumbed to the illness and God took her away on June 1, 2022.   We humbly pray for peace and sadgati for her soul.
