Obituary of Dipika Shah
Please share a memory of Dipika to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dipika Shah, affectionately known as Dipa, passed away with her family by her side on July 30, 2020. Dipika was the best mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, and overall person someone could be. A pure soul who remained ambitious and perseverant in a life filled with many hardships. She was incredibly intelligent, sweet yet straightforward, resilient, persistent, fearless, resourceful, and spiritual.
After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a Master’s degree in Biochemistry from Bombay University in Mumbai, India, Dipika worked as an analytical chemist in cosmetics and personal care for over 30 years. Chemistry and science were her passion and she loved the work that she did.
Her most favorite things were cooking, art, yoga, zumba, shopping with her daughter Priya at new malls and flea markets, pampering herself with jewelry, flowers, going to temple, reading Gujarati books, and watching Indian cooking Youtube channels and The Food Network. She was a mother who loved watching reality TV shows such as DWTS, The Bachelor, 90 Day Fiancé and other TLC shows with her family, enjoyed yearly family vacations and traveling, and loved cheering for her children at track meets, encouraging them to push themselves to their best. Dipika loved music and dancing as well. While she could embarrass her children with her own rendition of “Oops!...I did it again,” she was truly the life of the party with a little rum or wine.
Dipika was someone who would fight for what was right and voice her opinion. She respected hard work and through that, had faith in the future. Nothing came easy for our mom but she endured the hurdles and we were always so excited to see her improvements. Dipika made so many people’s lives better during hers. She touched countless people with her kindness and listening ear and helped them navigate life. She was truly an extraordinary human being.
Mom, thank you for working so hard to ensure that we would have good lives. You achieved your goal- your children are successful college graduates with jobs and the family is together. It’s all because of the amazing role model that you were and still are. You will always be with us and we will always be with you. You may have been proud of us but we’re proud of you and will always be. Here’s to forever having you watch over us, our champ, our hero.
To honor Dipika, please consider donating to the National Kidney Foundation.
