Obituary of Amratlal Gandhi

Papa. Dada. Bapa. Friend. It’s still hard to believe that he is gone. Such an important part of the family and community taken away from us. Amratlal Gandhi, age 88, passed away on Monday, April 13th, 2020 at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, NJ. He was a father to his kids, second-father to his grandkids, and a role-model to all. He took care of everyone around him and gave them all of his love. He made sure to attend every special event in our lives. Every wedding, engagement, graduation, baby shower, sweet sixteen – no matter the event, he always made the time to come and support us. He was dedicated and committed to us all and left a big impact in each and every one of our lives. He taught us that the two most important things in life were education and family, and with these two things, we can go anywhere we want to in our lives. He was also the President, Vice-President, and Treasurer during his time with the Indian American Senior Citizen Association of Passaic, New Jersey. He was proud of these titles and honored to be a member of this organization. He was respected by so many people and a very important person in this community. He put a lot of his time and effort into leading this organization and making sure everyone enjoyed the events. We would wake up and see him working in the middle of the night, writing in his books, and keeping track of all the money for the organization. He made this a big part of his life and showed us how hard work and dedication pays off and earns you respect. Dada, we know you are watching over us. Every event we have, you will be in our thoughts. Every wedding, graduation, family gathering - we know you will be there and you will be happy for us. Dada, you are now gone but you will always be with us. You are gone, but you will never be forgotten. You always told us how proud of us you were, and we will continue to do everything we can to keep making you proud. We love you so much and you will always have an impact on our lives.
